Silver Swans Chair Class

The course is designed to practice safely in recreational rooms/dance studios. The use of chairs usually set in a circle. The class will include artistic expression, grace and elegance of ballet with a holistic approach that goes beyong the traditional notion of physical exercise. Emphasis is put on adaptibilty and inclusivity insuring each individual’s level of experience and/or mobility. Whether or not a participant has danced before or for the first time, there is a place for everyone.

A typical course will strive to accomplish the following objectives:

Warm-up, Cardiovascular and Mobilizing, Extremities and Straight Axis, Circles, Into the Center (Core), Head, Neck Body-Sagittal Plane, Head, Neck, Body-Spiraling, Head, Neck, Body-Inclining, The Challenge.

The meticulously crafted curriculum draws upon the fundamentals of classical ballet technique structured to promote balance, flexibility, and strength all accomplished while seated. Designed to empower older learners, emphasis on success, volition, value, and enjoyment are core values.

Prioritizing accessibility and safety, the class progresses through gentle warm-up to graceful adagio movements, to lively allegro sequences, and cool down all to beautifully curated classical piano music. Learning new steps and sequences, participants can engage in cognitive vitality while enjoying the artistry and beauty of dance.

Participants may wear comfortable loose fitting clothing and socks.
